What a restaurant website needs: 7 essentials
A restaurant website has one job: to turn the person looking at it on their phone into a guest at your table. Here are the seven things it cannot do without.
1. A menu that is easy to read
No PDF that people have to zoom into with two fingers. The menu should read well on a phone and be easy to update when your dishes change.
2. A booking button
The guest picks the day, time and number of people, and the request reaches you on WhatsApp. No phone calls in the middle of service.
3. Mouth-watering photos
Big, real photos of your dishes and your dining room. A good photo sells more than any description.
4. Opening hours and closing days
Clearly visible and always up to date. A guest who finds the door closed does not come back.
5. Address and map
A “Get directions” button that opens Google Maps straight away. And if there is parking nearby, say so.
6. Several languages
If you welcome tourists, your website should open in their language. In tourist areas, it is one of the things that brings in the most bookings.
7. Fast loading
More than half of visitors leave a website that is slow to load. A fast website is a website that sells.
